WELCOME

Welcome to the web site of the Royal Air Force Detachment, based at Calgary International Airport in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.  We are responsible for the management of Royal Air Force aircraft that transit Western Canada.  We arrange facilities required for any RAF aircraft, its passengers, flight crew, or cargo. Our geographic area of responsibility stretches from the Manitoba/Ontario border in the east to the Pacific Coast in the west. In fact, our area remains one of the busiest parts of the world for RAF aircraft.  RAF transport aircraft deliver soldiers to both Calgary and Edmonton, RAF airmen to CFB Cold Lake and many types of RAF aircraft pass through en route to the USA.

We are part of the Royal Air Force's air transport organization and our main tasks are associated with airlift management and transport aircraft despatch.   We are a Detachment of Headquarters No 2 Group, which is part of Headquarters Strike Command.

We have offices at both Calgary and Edmonton International Airports, as well as Check-in Desks and the usual 'airline facilities' and all our transport aircraft are expertly handled by 'Globe Ground North America.  We can answer any questions that you may have about travelling with the Royal Air Force or if you are thinking of coming to Western Canada for a holiday.  Hopefully, the links below will answer most of your questions, but please feel free to contact us.
